Bevill SoftballThe Bevill State softball program began the journey of fast-pitch softball during the 1998 season after many years of success at the slow-pitch level. Housed on the Sumiton Campus, the softball program has been led by head coach Ricky Howell since June 2003 where he has accumulated an overall record of 225-110. Prior to Howell�s leading the program, the Bears were winless during the 2002-2003 season. As a result of his rebuilding efforts, Bevill State has won the Alabama Community College Conference(ACCC) Northern League regular season softball title (2005) and have finished in the top four during three years (2006, 2007, 2009) of ACCC softball tournament action. Coach Howell's teams also excel in the classroom where six former players have been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-Americans, including three players who maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while enrolled at Bevill State.
