Community

As a community-orientated institution, Bevill State promotes the development of its citizens through social and cultural enrichment activities as well as educational advancement. The College provides a vital leadership role by offering courses for personal enrichment, community service, professional development, short-term skills instruction, and training for existing business and industry.

The Carl Elliott House Museum is operated by Bevill State Community College in tribute to former U.S. Congressman Carl Elliott, Sr., a native of Jasper who co-authored two of the most important pieces of education legislation in United States History - the Library Services Act and the National Defense Education Act. Congressman Elliott was a champion of economic and education reform and racial tolerance in George Wallace's Alabama. Late in his life, Mr. Elliott was the first recipient of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.
