keyboarding through classroom instruction and outside lab. Emphasis is on
speed and accuracy in keying alphabetic, symbol, and numeric information
using a keyboard. Upon completion, the student should be able to
demonstrate proper technique and an acceptable rate of speed and
accuracy, as defined by the course syllabus, in the production of basic
business documents such as memos, letters, reports, and tables.

English. Emphasis is on grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, word
usage, word division, and proofreading. Upon completion, the student

communicate effectively. Emphasis is on the application of communication
principles to produce clear, correct, logically-organized business
communications. Upon completion, the student should be able to
demonstrate effective communication techniques in written, oral, and

This course is designed to give the student knowledge about managing
office records and information. Emphasis is on basic filing procedures,
methods, systems, supplies, equipment, and modern technology used in
the creation, protection, and disposition of records stored in a variety of

forms of dictated material through classroom instruction. Emphasis is on the
use of microcomputers and a commercial word processing package. Upon

This course is designed to familiarize students with legal terms and provide
transcription skill development in the production of legal correspondence,
forms, and court documents through classroom instruction and lab
exercises. Emphasis is on transcribing error-free legal documents using

demonstrate the ability to accurately transcribe legal documents that are
appropriately formatted.

through classroom instruction and lab exercises. Emphasis is on legal

employment in a legal environment.
