Institutional Scholarships

Bevill State offers numerous institutional scholarships including academic, leadership/service, and performing arts. A brief description of each scholarship offered at Bevill State, the award amount, and the criteria for the selection and retention of the scholarship are listed below. Scholarships are awarded for one year. Students may be eligible for the renewal of their scholarship for the second year based on their cumulative GPA. Students will not be eligible to receive an institutional scholarship for more than two consecutive years.

These scholarships are based on such criteria as academic merit, extracurricular activity participation, prior career technical training and leadership ability. Any student who meets eligibility requirements will be considered for the following scholarships:

Academic Scholarships

These scholarships are based on such criteria as academic merit, extracurricular activity participation, prior career technical training and leadership ability. Any student who meets eligibility requirements will be considered for the following academic scholarships:


VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a 2011 high school graduate and selected as valedictorian or salutatorian from an accredited high school with a minimum ACT score of 20. The award covers tuition and fees up to 16 hours and provides books through a book loan program. The recipient must be a full-time student while attending Bevill State and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). NOTE: Applicant must have scholarship application on file by deadline. Scholarship will be awarded after confirmation from high school counselor.


PRESIDENTIAL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.0 (85) average for consideration of a Presidential Scholarship. The award is $2,500 ($1,250 per term) for fall and spring semesters only. The recipient must be a full-time student while attending Bevill State and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). The award may be applied toward tuition and fees.


HONORS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 2.5 (80) average. The recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA. This award is $1,500 ($750 per term) for fall and spring semesters only. The award may be applied toward tuition and fees.


PRESIDENTIAL TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must meet applicable eligibility requirements. In addition, applicant must exhibit interest and/or experience in the career technical education/training field. Selected recipients must be accepted into the technology program indicated on the scholarship application. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Recipients may be awarded $2,500 per year (maximum $1,250 per term) based on enrollment status. The award may be applied toward tuition and fees.


HONORS TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must meet applicable eligibility requirements. In addition, applicant must exhibit interest and/or experience in the career technical education/training field. Selected recipient must be accepted into the technology program indicated on the scholarship application. Recipient must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Recipient may be awarded $1,500 per year (maximum $750 per term) based on enrollment status. The award may be applied toward tuition and fees.


MATH, CHEMISTRY & PHYSICS PREPARATION (MCAPP) ENGINEERING PROGRAM

The MCAPP program at Bevill State is a transfer engineering program designed to prepare students for success in an engineering career. Students who indicate engineering as their program of study on this scholarship application will be considered for the MCAPP Honors Scholarship and the MCAPP Incentive Scholarship. Leadership & Service Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded based on the students’ participation in clubs, organizations and extra-curricular activities. In addition to maintaining a specified cumulative grade point average, selected recipients must perform service activities for the College as specified in the respective scholarship categories’ guidelines/constitutions.


AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be high school graduates with at least a 3.0 (85) average. Applicants must submit an essay and résumé in order to be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The essay should be no more than 500 words, be typewritten or computer-generated and cover the topic: Demonstrate how your life experiences have contributed positively in preparing you to become a Bevill State Ambassador. Applicants will be considered for Ambassador at all Bevill State campuses; however, only one interview per applicant will be conducted. Indicate the campus on which you prefer your interview to take place on the Scholarship Application. Ambassadors serve as the College’s official hosts and hostesses. Recipients must attend as full-time students, maintain a 2.75 GPA and must abide by the Ambassador Policies and Procedures. The award covers tuition and fees up to 19 hours per semester and provides books through a book loan program.


SCHOLARS' BOWL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be high school graduates with at least a 2.5 (80) average. Consideration is given to applicants who were actively involved in their high school Scholars’ Bowl Team. Selected recipients must attend Bevill State as a full-time student and must abide by the Scholars’ Bowl guidelines. Recipients are required to maintain a 2.75 GPA. The award is $2,000 ($1000 per term) for one year, fall and spring semesters only. The award may be applied toward tuition and fees.


DANCE TEAM SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be high school graduates with at least a 2.5 (80) average. Recipient must be a full-time student, maintain a 2.75 GPA, and follow dance team policies and procedures. This award is $1,500 ($750 per semester) for one year for tuition and fees only. Applicants must contact Ms. Robeana Green at ext. 5711 to obtain tryout information.



Performing Arts Scholarships


INSTRUMENTAL SCHOLARSHIP
Band scholarships are available to qualified students based upon application and/or selection. Applicants must be high school graduates with at least a 2.5 average. Recipients must be a full-time student, maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and follow performing arts guidelines. Awards range from $1,200 to $2,400 per year based on a level of participation as determined by Performing Arts Department.

VOCAL (CHORAL) SCHOLARSHIP
Choral scholarships are available to qualified students based upon application and/or selection. Applicants must be high school graduates with at least a 2.5 average. Recipients must be a full-time student, maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and follow performing arts guidelines. Awards range from $1,200 to $2,400 per year based on a level of participation as determined by Performing Arts Department.
