Bevill State Scholarship Deadline Fast Approaching

January 14, 2013

The 2013-2014 Bevill State Community College scholarship deadline is February 1, 2013. Students who are interested in applying should contact their guidance counselors or access the Bevill State 2013-14 Scholarship Application at bscc.edu.

Bevill State awards a selection of institutional scholarships and foundation scholarships each year. Institutional scholarships include awards for Valedictorian and Salutatorian students; Presidential/Academic scholarships; Presidential/Technology scholarships; Honors/Academic scholarships; Honors/Technology scholarships; Bevill State Ambassador scholarships; Scholars’ Bowl Team awards; Dance Team awards; and Performing Arts (Jasper only) awards. The college also offers endowed/foundation and need-based designated scholarships. A complete list of scholarships and academic or financial qualifications may be found in the financial aid section on the college’s Web site at www.bscc.edu/financialaid.

Scholarships are becoming more and more important,” said Dr. Kim Ennis, Bevill State's Dean of Students. “As education costs continue to rise across the nation, students have an opportunity to lessen the financial burden on themselves and parents through Bevill State’s scholarship assistance program.

Ennis stressed that while a major advantage of attending Bevill State is lower tuition rates, an added benefit includes living at home and saving on room and board. “Bevill State’s tuition and fees are approximately half of most Alabama four-year institutions, but when living expenses are added into the equation, the savings can be substantial over a two-year period,” she said.

Additional advantages noted by Ennis are the opportunity to explore different majors, smaller classes that provide more personal attention and specific skills training for job advancement and development.

For those interested in applying for a Bevill State scholarship, applications are available from area high school guidance counselors, Bevill State’s Office of Student Services and on the college’s Web site – bscc.edu. The deadline to return applications is February 1st. For more information, contact the Office of Student Services at 800-648-3271.
