Five First Place Winners in SkillsUSA-Alabama

Bevill State Community College students from the Hamilton Campus competed in the SkillsUSA-Alabama contest held April 24 and 25 in Birmingham.

After weeks of preparation, the students competed in Automotive Service Technology, Welding, and Cosmetology.  The college had five first place finishers –

Steven Howard (Automotive Service Technology);
Katie Childers (Job Skills Demo);
Thomas Dye (Motorcycle Service Technology);
Casey Silas (Power Equipment Technology); and
Lauren Whaley (Nail Care). 
Ashley Gray placed third in Job Skills Demonstration “Open”.

“I am proud of all the students who attempted to compete, and I appreciate all the time and effort they put forth to prepare,” said Automotive Instructor Chad Bryant.

The five first place students plan to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO on June 23rd-27th.
