Career opportunities for individuals 50 years old and older can be limited. However, a Bevill State Community College partnership with the AARP Foundation is helping to expand understanding of the opportunities that do exist. Those interested in learning more about the program can attend an information session June 19 on the college’s Jasper Campus.

Bevill State and the AARP Foundation entered into the BACK TO WORK 50+ initiative earlier this year. Through the program, Bevill State supports job seekers through information sessions, coaching, training scholarships and job search preparation. The program is exclusively for individuals 50 years and older looking to re-enter the workforce by completing short-term training programs. Bevill State is offering training in Certified Nursing Assistant and Truck Driving through the program.
Through the program, Bevill State supports job seekers through information sessions, coaching, training scholarships and job search preparation.
The local information session scheduled for June 19 provides job candidates information about the BACK TO WORK 50+ program and how it helps them learn how to update their personal marketing tools, networking strategies, and job search skills. It also helps them improve their search for in-demand jobs, job leads, and in finding resources and training that helps them stay focused while they look for full-time employment.
Those interested in attending the information session can call a toll-free to register. Registrants will receive a “7 Smart Strategies for 50+ Jobseekers Guide”, a free job search guide. Attendees can also bring their resumes to receive feedback from coaches. The number to register is (855) 850-2525.
