Bevill State-Fayette Baseball Preview
02-09-2009

The Bevill State-Fayette baseball team is looking to have a strong season in 2009 coming off of last year's record of 37-19. After the graduation of several key players from the 2008 squad, head coach Joey May believes that he will have several newcomers contribute early during the season.

"Our sophomores know how tough this league is and will work hard to make sure that we are successful this year. However, we are going to need some freshman to step up in a couple of spots this year for us to do well," said May.

The Bears return four starters this season who hit over .300 last season. Those starters include shortstop Scott Deason, outfielder Landon Wilson, second baseman Jesse Sharbutt, and outfielder Drew Dukes. Nick Myers who posted a 7-3 record last season and T. J. Flowers who ended the year with a 5-4 record look to lead the Bears pitching staff. Other sophomores looking to make contributions to the 2009 squad include infielder Wes Clay, transfer catcher Trey George, and transfer right hand pitcher/infielder Kyle Dees.
