  Homecoming Queens for Fayette and Hamilton Campuses Crowned

Homecoming queens for the Fayette and Hamilton Campuses of Bevill State Community College were crowned Thursday, Feb. 12, as the culmination to Homecoming week festivities on both campuses.

 

Lindsay Ashby, a sophomore from Vernon,  was elected the 2009 Homecoming Queen for the Fayette Campus, while Chasity Woodard, a sophomore from Haleyville, was elected the 2009 Homecoming Queen for the Hamilton Campus.

 

Both young ladies were announced as queens at halftime of the Bevill State men’s basketball game against Northwest Shoals Community College. The queens were presented tiaras by BSCC President Dr. Anne McNutt and a dozen roses from Fayette Campus Associate Dean Max Weaver and Hamilton Campus Associate Dean Susan Burrow.

 

Ashby, from Vernon, is a graduate of Lamar County High School and a nursing major at Bevill State. She is the daughter of Mark Ashby and Melissa Ashby and represented the Student Nursing Association. She was escorted by Josh Kemp.

 

Woodard is a graduate of Haleyville High School and is majoring in nursing at Bevill State. She is the daughter of Jim and Pam Woodard and represented the Student Nursing Association on the Hamilton Campus. She was escorted by Zac Colburn.

 

A total of 24 young ladies were nominated for Homecoming Queen.

 

Fayette Campus nominees included Lauren Beason, a graduate of Springville High School majoring in Psychology; Scarlett Bonds, a graduate of Hubbertville High School majoring in Liberal Arts; Amanda Couch, a graduate of Hamilton High School majoring in Education; McCall Henderson, a graduate of Winfield High School majoring in Psychology; Bethany McKee, a graduate of South Lamar High School majoring in Pre-Pharmacy; Tammy Metcalfe, a graduate of Lamar County majoring in Information Technology; Angerica Nalls, a graduate of Fayette County High School majoring in Social Work; Megan Watkins, a graduate of Fayette County High School majoring in  Elementary Education; and Samantha Williams, a graduate of Brilliant High School majoring in Music.

 

Hamilton Campus nominees included: Courtney Broussard, a graduate of Hackleburg High School majoring in Secondary Education; Brittany Cooper, a graduate of Hamilton High School majoring in Nursing; Rachel Craig, a graduate of Hamilton High School majoring in Nursing; Victoria Garrison, a graduate of Union County High School majoring in Industrial Electronics Technology; Jessica Denise Green, a Carbon Hill High School graduate majoring in Nursing; Bethany Harris, a graduate of Winston County High School majoring in Cosmetology; Heather Johnson, a graduate of Hackleburg High School majoring in Physical Therapy; Tanisha Lawson, a graduate of Haleyville High School majoring in Automotive Technology; Nicole Sides, a Winfield City High School graduate majoring in Secondary Education; Anthania Stewart, a graduate of Marion County High School majoring in Business; Jozlyn C. Varnedoe from Lithonia, GA. majoring in Sports Medicine; Jessica Weeks, a graduate of Hackleburg High School majoring in Liberal Arts; and LaKetta Williams, a Hamilton High School graduate majoring in Biology.

 

"Homecoming is a wonderful celebration," said BSCC President Dr. Anne McNutt.  “We are proud of all of these young ladies for representing our College.
