Lady Bears Claim Impressive Road Win

On Monday night, Feb. 16, the Lady Bears captured a key road win at Snead State 65-46. The Lady Bears were coming off a two game losing streak. This game was crucial in solidifying Bevill State a spot in the state tournament. The game was highly contested in the first half with Bevill State holding a six-point lead going into halftime. Coming out the second half, Bevill State was able to go on a 14-2 run to put the game out of reach. The Bears forced 16 turnovers and held Snead State to 29 percent shooting from the field.
Leading scorers for Bevill State was Tyfanni Fenwick who finished with 13 points. Fenwick also pulled down 11 rebounds on the night. Also in double figures was Jasmine Brooks and Antoria Elliott who each finished with 10 points. Coach Joe Richardson commented, "I thought we came out with a purpose the second half. Anytime you can go on the road and get a win in conference, it is a big win."
This was the second time this season these teams have met. The teams met in Fayette back on January 22nd. Bevill State won the game in easy fashion 77-48. The win improves Bevill State’s record to 15-11 overall and 5-5 in the conference. |
