The final session of the 2009 Read Alabama with author Sara Duboise
03-18-2009

The final session of the 2009 Read Alabama! The Tradition Continues! featured author Sara DuBose and her series of novels including Where Hearts Live and A Promise for Tomorrow on March 10. DuBose entertained the audience with a delightful southern accent, a great sense of humor, and props to demonstrate her stories that prompted the audience to laughter throughout the session. In the first photo, DuBose is shown with an antique, glass coca-cola bottle and a device that turned the bottle into a laundry gadget. A special presentation at the end of the program honored Marthanne Brown, who began the program more than 16 years ago. Pictured in the second photo is Penne Mott, Associate Dean of the Bevill Sate-Jasper campus, presenting flowers and a gift to Brown for her years of dedication and service to the program. To Brown’s right is Jay Lamar of Auburn University’s Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities, a grant supporter of the Read Alabama! program at Bevill State since its inception.
