Mine Emergency Command Center Training Session with Drummond Coal Company's Mine Safety Team
03-23-2009
The Mine Training division on the Sumiton campus will hold a Mine Emergency Command Center Training (MECCT) session with Drummond Coal Company's mine safety team and the teams that represent the State of Alabama. Individuals from MSHA, United Mine Workers and state mine enforcement personnel will be involved to update the training these teams undergo in case of a mine disaster. They will spend the day setting up a command center, choosing the personnel who will function in specified roles during a disaster and working through possible disaster scenarios inside the simulated mine on the Sumiton campus. This training is critical to the state's mining industry because every mining company must have access to two mine safety teams located within two hours travel time from a mining disaster. The two teams that represent the State of Alabama are located on the Sumiton campus and are part of the State of Alabama's Mine Training Academy. |
