College Station, Texas — Western Kentucky University senior track and field athlete Valerie Brown capped a stellar career in a Lady Topper uniform with a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-America finish at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Brown clocked a 400-meter dash time of 52.76 seconds – just shy of the school record time of 52.74 she set in yesterday's preliminary – to finish third. She becomes just the second Lady Topper indoor all-American in WKU history along with Janet Jesang, who finished seventh in yesterday's 5,000 meters.

Brown also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team – with teammates Miaie Williams, Samantha Smith (former Bevill State teammate), and Alecia Brown – that finished 11th in a time of 3:38.87, ahead of Seton Hall who was 12th and Auburn 13th.

The Lady Toppers finished the team competition with eight points, putting them in a tie for 30th place with Villanova, Middle Tennessee and Akron.
