  BSCC Instructor receives Nursing Lamplighter Award

Patricia Reeves, Interim Associate Dean of Health Science at Bevill State Community College, Jasper, Alabama was one of nine nurses statewide awarded the Alabama League of Nursing Lamplighter Award at a banquet recently held in Point Clear, AL.

 

The Lamplighter Award is part of a prestigious recognition program designed to pay tribute to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the nursing profession and/or society. Reeves has served in the nursing profession for over 32 years. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Alabama League for Nursing, the National League for Professional Nursing Education Programs, and the Alabama Council of Practical Nurse Educators.

 

Reeves, who has been at the college since 1981, has worked as a faculty member, division chair, college-wide program coordinator and is currently serving as the interim associate dean of the Health Science division.

 

Reeves was nominated by Karen McMahon, BSCC Nursing Division Chair. McMahon stated, “High professional and ethical standards as well as outstanding leadership qualities are among the many characteristics Ms. Reeves has consistently exhibited in her desire to develop and improve the discipline of nursing. She has diligently worked to develop programs that have a tremendous impact on the lives of our faculty, administration and most of all our students at Bevill State.

 

"We are extremely proud of Pat Reeves and her accomplishment," said Dr. Anne McNutt, Bevill State President. "She is an outstanding example of Bevill State's faculty and is very deserving of this award. Dedicated employees like Ms. Reeves are instrumental in the success of our students."
