Former Bevill State Athlete Named Assistant Coach at UWA

Joe Eatmon, a former Bevill State-Jasper basketball player, has been named an assistant coach at the University of West Alabama (UWA) effective July 1. The Eutaw, Alabama, native starred for the Bears on the hardwood during the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 seasons for head coach Chris Trawick and performed well not only on the court but in the classroom receiving an associate degree in Early Childhood / Elementary Education and in Journalism / Mass Communications in May 2004. After leaving Bevill State, Joe continued his academic and athletic career at UWA earning his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Physical Education. “It is great to see our athletes succeed after leaving Bevill State,” said Bevill State Athletic Director Russell Howton. “Joe was a role model to the other athletes who surrounded him at Bevill State because he viewed his academic role at the institution just a seriously as he did his basketball career. Bevill State is proud of Joe’s accomplishments and we look forward to reading many more success stories on him.” |
