The Lady Bears fell to 1-4 in Alabama Community College Conference play with a 12-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-16 loss on the road to Northwest-Shoals Thursday night. Complete statistics were not available at press time.

The loss, coupled with a pair of defeats at the Patriot Classic tournament over the weekend, dropped BSCC to 8-14 on the season.

Bevill State jumped ahead with a first-set win over Wallace State-Hanceville in their first match of the tournament before falling 25-23, 20-25, 15-25, 12-25.

The squad then fell in four sets to John A. Logan (Ill.) College 14-25, 25-20, 18-25, 21-25.

Meagan Box led the offense against Logan with 10 kills, while LaShay Henke finished with eight.

Setter Lauren Beason was the leader in assists with 32. Box led the defense with six total blocks, and Danielle Brown was tops in digs with 24.

The Lady Bears will close out their season with three home games starting Oct. 20 with Wallace-Hanceville. Bevill State will host Lawson State on Thursday, Oct. 22, and then finish out the regular season with a home match against Snead State on Thursday, Oct. 29. All matches begin at 6 p.m.
