Bevill State Community College has partnered with the Alabama Technology Network (ATN) to provide the College's training for existing business and industry and operate the Bevill State Incubator.
Bevill State's Training for Existing Business and Industry division offers training opportunities which can be conducted on-site at Bevill State, at a company's facility or with a combination of both locations. Courses may be credit producing, stand-alone, non-credit, or customized.
"This partnership will be of great benefit to the businesses located in our seven-county service area," said BSCC President Dr. Anne McNutt. "ATN brings a higher level of resources and expertise available for industry that is beyond the scope of the College."
The Alabama Technology Network of the Alabama Community College System links two-year colleges, The University of Alabama System, Auburn University and the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama together to solve the needs of the state's existing manufacturing industry.
This link allows Alabama manufacturers to "make things better in their business." As Alabama's Affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Partnership, ATNs employees are able to provide services through a variety of training options and methods.
Whether it's through Lean manufacturing training, quality services training, continual improvement methods, environmental health and safety training, industrial maintenance training, or one of the many other services ATN offers to Alabama manufacturers, ATNs team of experts can meet local needs and provide innovative and cost-effective solutions. ATN's sites are strategically located throughout the state to provide local points of contact in order to train Alabama manufacturers in need of assistance.
"I look forward to ATN-Jasper providing stronger assistance to local manufacturers and enhancing workforce development in the area," said Dr. Mike Bailey, ATN president. "Our partnership with Bevill State will prove to be a successful one for the business community."
In October, Mr. David Cooper became the Director of Jasper's ATN Center and will lead the training initiatives for Bevill State in Fayette, Marion, Lamar, Pickens, Walker and parts of Winston and Jefferson counties.
Cooper, of Guin, holds a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He previously worked with 3M in Guin for over 16 years.
"I am excited about the opportunity to work for ATN and with Bevill State to serve, grow, and continually improve the existing business and industries throughout this region and state," said Cooper.
