The Pickens County Educational Center, located in the historical town of Carrollton, Alabama, serves a vital role providing educational opportunities to the citizens of its service area.  Bevill State is proud of the growth at the new Center and continually works with the community as well as business and industry in the area for new programs and/or training demands.

In January 2007, the doors to a new 20,000 square-foot facility opened and stands ready to meet the educational needs of all from Adult Education classes to short-term certificates or two-year degrees in technical programs as well as academic transfer programs.

History of the Center
Bevill State has a long history of serving the citizens of west central Alabama and east Mississippi.  The College’s first educational center, Brewer State Learning Assistance Center, opened in the 1980s with the mission of offering quality education to residents within a 50-mile radius of their home.  From those humble beginnings and with the strong support of the community, the Pickens County Educational Center has experienced tremendous growth.

Location

The Pickens County Educational Center, located on Highway 86 East in Carrollton, Ala., is centrally located in the heart of Pickens County and just a short thirty-minute drive from Tuscaloosa, Alabama or Columbus, Mississippi. Its location provides easy access for citizens in the area and surrounding counties of west Alabama and east Mississippi.

Conveniently nestled in an area ready for growth and prosperity, the Pickens County Educational Center is eager to serve the educational needs of the citizens in the College’s service area. The campus offers the latest state-of-the-art technology to its students.  Strong academic and technical curriculums are offered by both traditional instructional delivery and distance-learning methods. To further enhance the educational experience at Bevill State, classrooms are  equipped with computer labs and some courses are offered via the Internet. All classrooms are equipped with an Internet connection and LCD projector to enhance and supplement the excellent instruction provided by our highly-qualified instructors.
