Physics

The Physics program at Bevill State Community College is designed to help a student transfer to a four-year institution for completion of the baccalaureate degree.  If you've decided on physics, begin your study at Bevill State.

The Physics program focuses on the development of sound problem-solving skills with classroom instruction and pratical laboratory education. Laboratory work contributes to this development by surveying and verifying fundamental laws of fluids, heat, electricity, optics, and mechanics. You'll gain hands-on experience with equipment normally reserved for students in upper-level classes. Customarily, the same faculty members who teach your lecture sections will also teach your laboratory sections.  This insures that continuity is maintained between theoretical and practical applications.

Career Opportunities
Due to the fundamental nature of the study of physics, students majoring in physics have virtually unlimited academic and career options. From traditional physics subjects such as Newtonian mechanics, light and matter interactions, astronomy, cosmology, nuclear and condensed matter physics, to chemistry, biology, medicine, and all types of engineering, physicists have successfully pursued careers in such widely varying subjects as finance and sports training. The more you know about the rules of the universe, the more you can do with them.
