On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Bevill State Community College (BSCC) Career Pathways Academy hosted an exhibition highlighting the Robotics Camp held during the previous week. The event, held on the Bevill State Community College Sumiton Campus, culminated in a signing ceremony for the incoming scholarship recipients of the new Career Pathways Academy class. The ceremony featured Senator Greg Reed, President Pro Tempore of the Alabama Senate, as the guest speaker, who was honored with an Award of Appreciation for his outstanding vision and commitment to the development and sustainability of the Career Pathways Academy over the past nine years.
“Ensuring young people in our area have every resource necessary to achieve their dreams is critically important to the futures of our local communities. The Career Pathways Academy at Bevill State does a remarkable job of equipping students with the skills and expertise they need to have meaningful careers. I am very excited for the students who are following their aspirations and beginning their occupation journey, and I want to thank Dr. Hagood, Director Ingle, and the faculty at Bevill for their tireless work to make certain this program continues its wonderful success and impact throughout Alabama.”
This year, 20 talented students from various high schools in Fayette, Marion, and Walker counties received scholarships to join the Career Pathways Academy. These rising juniors will be introduced to a wealth of career pathways and industry opportunities through dual enrollment coursework at Bevill State, career fairs, exploration camps, and industry-relevant training. These students are representative of the future of our workforce, bringing enthusiasm and dedication.
The Career Pathways Academy is designed to expose high school students to job training for industry settings through an innovative career academy approach. By integrating academic coursework with hands-on industry experience, the program prepares students for the workforce while they are still in high school. We are immensely grateful to Senator Greg Reed for his unwavering support and dedication to this program. His vision has enabled us to offer unparalleled opportunities to our students, equipping them with the skills necessary for successful careers.”
The BSCC Career Pathways Academy remains a beacon of opportunity, providing students with the essential tools and experiences needed to thrive in their future careers.
