Start your career as an Educator with help from Bevill State. Do you enjoy working with children or mentoring others? The Child Development program prepares individuals to work in settings that care for and educate children. Participants are taught the essentials of designing curriculum, creating lesson plans, and introducing activities appropriate for children. Students learn observation and assessment techniques, positive discipline, communication, as well as, CPR, first aid, safety, and nutrition.
This program is 100% online.
Did you know? Many join the Child Development program with the desire to become a Head Start teacher, Pre-K or daycare director or owner, or becoming certified to aid in the public school system.

All students enrolled in the CHD Program will require a criminal background check prior to enrollment. The cost of the background check will be the responsibility of the student. Issues pertaining to or resulting in positive findings in the background check will result in the student being denied enrollment. More information about criminal background checks.
Bevill State Community College offers three separate degree/certificate programs of study in Child Development. The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree requires the completion of 37 credit hours in general studies and 25 credit hours of courses specific to the child development discipline. The short-term certificate requires the completion of 10 hours of courses specific to child development and does not require completion of any general studies courses.
