Special Circumstances

Special Circumstances refer to changes in the student’s financial situation that may justify the adjustment of certain elements in the Cost of Attendance or EFC calculation.

Special Circumstances may include but are not limited to:

  • Loss or reduction of employment, wages, or unemployment compensation
  • Loss of untaxed income or benefits e.g. Social Security benefits or child support
  • Separation or divorce
  • Death of a parent or spouse
  • Unusually high medical expenses

If you believe you qualify for an adjustment due to a special circumstance, please complete the form below and return it to the Office of Student Services.

Unusual Circumstances

Unusual Circumstances refer to certain conditions that may justify the adjustment of a student’s dependency status.

Unusual Circumstances may include but are not limited to:

  • Parental abandonment
  • Incarceration
  • Human trafficking
  • Refugee or asylee status
